Meetings of the working groups and the expert team of the Regional Advisory Committee for Search and Rescue in Civil Aviation (RASARAC – Regional Aeronautical Search and Rescue Advisory Committee), organized by the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro were held on May 10 and 11 in Podgorica.

 

The meetings were attended by the RASARAC representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and the host country Montenegro, the EUROCONTROL Special Representative for RASARAC cooperation, as well as the representatives of JRCC Larnaca, the Cypriot Search and Rescue and Training Center in this field.

 

A number of topics were opened at the meeting, such as improving mutual cooperation and support of member states, capacity building and development in the field of search and rescue of aircraft, improving operational cross-border cooperation and cooperation with organizations such as ICAO, EUROCONTROL, COSPAS-SARSAT and support for the implementation of ICAO standards, regulations and procedures in this area. Significant conclusions were also reached on further activities within this committee and establishing coordination with other foreign and international organizations involved in the field of search and rescue.

 

RASARAC was founded in 2016, and its work involves 10 countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro and the Czech Republic, as well as the civil aviation organizations, EUROCONTROL and ICAO.
