On the sidelines of the meeting of the Ministers of Transport and Communications, held in Skopje on the occasion of the promotional flight from Sofia to Skopje, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Agency, Mr. Tomislav Tuntev, PhD held a working meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Mr. Hristo Sterjonov.

 

The meeting focused on several current topics and activities that are of common interest, arising from the Memorandum of Understanding, signed on December 4, 2019. One of them is the organization and implementation of joint inspections of entities in the aviation industry by aviation inspectors in both countries, in the field of aviation safety at airports, flight operations, air navigation and aviation security. The participation of Macedonian experts in training activities of the Bulgarian Aviation Authorities in the field of Search and Rescue was also discussed, including the possibilities and conditions for involvement of CAA representatives in the exercise activities to be organized in the autumn by the competent bodies in Bulgaria in the field of search and rescue of aircraft, as well as in the field of aviation security.

 

During the meeting it was also discussed about the possibilities for realization of joint SAFA inspections, i.e. oversight of foreign air carriers by the Macedonian and Bulgarian inspectors at the airports in both countries, and exchange of experiences in that area, in accordance with the rules of the European Aviation Safety Agency.

 

At the meeting, the Directors General agreed the next bilateral meeting to be held in May in Sofia, in order to continue and enhance the mutual cooperation within several specific additional joint projects and activities, within the competencies of the aviation regulatory bodies.
