Within the framework of the established regional cooperation between the aviation regulatory authorities, a working meeting of representatives from the civil aviation authorities of North Macedonia and Bulgaria was held last week in Sofia at the highest level. The delegation of the Macedonian Civil Aviation Agency was kindly and cordially received by their colleagues from the Civil Aviation Agency of Bulgaria.

At the meeting, the participants mutually emphasized the need for deepening the cooperation between the regulatory authorities in the field of aviation in the region at all levels, as well as for mutual assistance and support in achieving the set goals and development plans. The joint commitments to reach and fulfill the relevant international standards and recommendations in the field of air traffic and transport safety were also emphasized, as a basic condition for the realization of successful integration processes in the global European air transport system.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance and the necessary requirement for a joint regional approach and participation in the work of EUROCONTROL, ICAO, ECAC, EASA, and other international aviation organizations and associations. At the meeting, it was agreed that mutual cooperation will be intensified in the next period at the operational and technical levels. This implies the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices between the experts, as well as the realization of joint inspections of the entities from the aviation industry in both countries, within the framework of the principal activity of the civil aviation authorities.
