The Civil Aviation Agency held a workshop to promote aviation safety

The Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), within the framework of the National Aviation Safety Programme, organized a workshop on safety promotion on 16 April 2026, held at the sports aerodrome Štip (LWST), in the premises of the pilot school “Rimin Air”.
The workshop was dedicated to enhancing the safety culture within the aviation industry through education, exchange of experience, and strengthening cooperation between institutions and industry stakeholders. Safety promotion represents one of the four pillars of the Safety Management System (SSP/SMS), in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
During the workshop, four presentations were delivered, covering key topics in the field of aviation safety.
The presentation on the National Aviation Safety Programme (2026 edition) addressed strategic objectives, safety indicators, and their implementation aimed at improving safety performance.
The session on occurrence reporting introduced participants to the regulatory framework in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 376/2014, as well as the importance of reporting systems in hazard identification and risk management. It was emphasized that timely and consistent reporting of occurrences is essential for prevention and continuous improvement of aviation safety.
Additionally, the Search and Rescue (SAR) system in the Republic of North Macedonia was presented, highlighting the coordination between competent authorities and the need for further strengthening of capacities for its effective operation.
The workshop also covered the ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP), where participants were introduced to the inspection process, self-assessment activities, and the functionality of the USOAP CMA online platform. The importance of a coordinated approach and a high level of preparedness among all stakeholders was emphasized, particularly in light of upcoming ICAO activities that also involve the industry.
The workshop concluded with an active discussion, providing participants with the opportunity to raise questions and exchange views on current safety challenges.
The CAA will continue to organize such events in order to further enhance aviation safety and strengthen cooperation with the aviation industry.
