Organized by the Civil Aviation Agency, “TAIEX Workshop on the Air Passengers Rights with Autism Spectrum Disabilities” was held in Skopje during the period from 10 – 11 September 2025.

The working meeting aimed to present the initiative “Autism – Moving through the airport“, to increase knowledge about regulatory requirements and to provide a more detailed introduction to the processes involved in the implementation of air transport. Additionally, at the meeting were presented, airport procedures for providing assistance to passengers with the autism spectrum, as well as for their best practices.

Experts from the Italian Civil Aviation Authority – ENAC, Mr. Marc De Laurentiis, Director of the Protection of Passenger Rights Department, as well as Ms. Paola Tenti, Senior Officer in the Passenger Rights Department, shared their experiences and knowledge with the attendees.
During the two-day event, participants were informed by their colleagues from the Italian civil authorities, De Laurentiis and Tenti, about the applicable European regulation, and received instructions on the passengers’ rights with disabilities using air transport. The workshop participants also had the opportunity to learn about Italian initiatives and examples that are already being implemented at airports in this country.
Special attention was paid to the “Autism – Moving through the airport” project, which aims to simplify the entire journey – from check-in, through all airport procedures, to arrival at the destination – in a way that is more accessible and less stressful for travelers on the autism spectrum.
In addition to CAA employees, the workshop was also attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Transport, TAV Macedonia, several air carriers with their representative offices in the country, the OURC “Dr. Zlatan Sremec”, the RNM Red Cross, the Association for Support and Treatment of Persons with Autism Spectrum and Atypical Development “In My World”, as well as the Center for Support of Persons with Mental Disabilities “PORAKA Negotino”.
